Peggy Brackett was born in Chicago on August 15, 1952, to Margaret F. and Eugene J. Tamillo, who named her Margaret Jean. At rest March 20, 2016. She is survived by her brother, Mike; her daughter, Valerie; her son Michael; her niece, Erin; her nephew, Robert (Elena); and her caregiver of sixteen years, Dave Turner.
Peggy grew up in Des Plaines, IL, and she graduated from Maine West High School in 1970. She attended Western Illinois University and graduated in 1974 with a major in Home Economics and a minor in Spanish.
She became a highly sought-after teacher at Hoffman Estates High School with a reputation of making learning fun and for teaching football players how to cook and sew. Peggy was so proud of her children, and attended every school function and sporting event they participated in. She kept score for every baseball/softball game they played, and even had a successful, but brief career as an All Star softball coach. She was an extremely talented seamstress, who designed and made all of her daughter’s figure skating costumes, as well as for entire ice shows at the Barrington Ice Arena. Peggy had a love for life!
Her parties were not to be missed, whether birthday parties for her children with homemade cakes that the Cake Boss would be jealous of, or summer barbeques where half of the neighborhood would show up. Everyone wanted to be around Peggy because of her contagious, positive attitude. She was also one of the most faithful and devoted Chicago sports fans. Don’t underestimate her, though, blow a lead or lose a game, and she’d let you hear it! You can be sure the Cubs have another die-hard angel rooting them on. Peggy demonstrated unceasing strength and resilience in battling progressive MS for 25 years. The family will be forever grateful for Dave Turner’s dedication to Peggy’s health and happiness.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 22 from 4 to 8pm at the Friedrichs Funeral Home, 320 W. Central Road, at Northwest Hwy.,Mt Prospect. In lieu of flowers, Peggy would prefer to see donations made to the
